SCLN is proud to honor Inglewood Mayor James Butts Jr. as one of Southern California Leadership Network’s 30-in-30. The campaign celebrates SCLN’s 30th anniversary by honoring 30 outstanding alumni throughout 2017.
Mayor Butts is a graduate of Leadership L.A. 2001 and has 45 years of public service experience including 19 years in the Inglewood Police Department, rising to the rank of deputy chief, and 15 years as the chief of police for the City of Santa Monica. He was elected Jan. 11, 2011 as the City of Inglewood’s 12th mayor. In less than five years, his strategic vision and operational expertise prevented impending bankruptcy of the city.
